I've decided to make my first post about these guys, as they're one of my favourite bands at the moment. I got into them when I was watching videos from an old Temples tour which the Merrylees supported.
The band are made up of five people; Ryan Sandison, Craig Somerville, Lee Brown, Craig McMullen and Kev Tierney. They are a Scottish band, originating from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
You could say the band sound like Temples, but they also have their own original sound. The incredibly catchy 'Forever More' has a very happy and upbeat sound to it, with a brilliant guitar solo. The harmonies between the two singers are also a great aspect of the song.
Then their sound quickly changes with the still obviously brilliant "The Wind That's following me". Both of these songs were written by Ryan (who I presume is the lead singer and guitarist) and it is clear that he has a huge amount of talent for song writing. This song is in minor, and one of my favourite parts of it is the continuous key change throughout it. Not to mention another brilliant guitar solo.
The other song I'm going to talk about is called 'For You'. This song starts in minor key but changes to major during the chorus. The guitar and drums are especially good in this one to me, but of course so is everything else. Many people have said this song sounds like it could be from the 70s psychedelia scene, which will make it a nostalgic sound for many listeners.
The band have opened for Paul Weller and as you know, have toured with Temples in 2013. They are definitely getting a lot of love on social media, and hopefully an album will be released in the coming year. Keep it up!
