Labour Leadership Results

As you all probably know already, the new Labour leader has been announced, and it is Jeremy Corbyn.

Personally, I wanted Andy Burnham to get it, but I put Corbyn as my 2nd choice. I know that many people aren't happy with the results, but we need to unite as a party. Jeremy has some very good policies, and with a strong cabinet and good advisers, we could see Labour gain more seats in 2020 - to possibly even lead to a victory. I am going to positive and professional about the results, as this is what the party decided, and we cant change that. So instead of fighting, Labour need to stand together and help Jeremy lead the party.

Policies
Jeremy's policies are often described as pretty 'radical' and by others, 'the best that Labour have seen in a long time'. Here are a few of them;

  • Have the UK leave NATO
  • Scrap Trident
  • Avoid bombing Syria
  • End Austerity
  • Consider bringing in a 'maximum wage'
  • Tackle the issue of large companies avoiding tax
  • Create a National Education service
  • Scrap Tuition fees
  • Renationalise the energy sector
  • Introduce rent controls in places like Central London
  • Protect the BBC from further cuts
  • Remove any element of NHS privatisation
  • Supports the idea of Northern Ireland leaving the UK and joining the Republic
You may or may not agree with those policies, but being an active member of the party can mean that Jeremy is able to implement the policies you want. So we should unite as a party, and take out the Tories in 2020.
